Neurodiagnostic Technologist - EEG
About The Position
Mayo Clinic is seeking Neurodiagnostic Technologists with a focus on EEG to join their growing Neurology department. This position offers opportunities for career growth and advancement within a world-renowned healthcare institution. The role involves providing high-quality Neurodiagnostic testing, including routine and extended EEG testing, and supporting inpatient and/or long-term EEG monitoring. Responsibilities may include electrode application and maintenance, troubleshooting technical issues, recognizing and escalating significant clinical or electrographic events, documentation, and collaborating with physicians and the care team. Depending on departmental needs and the technologist's training, services may extend to EMG, Nerve Conduction Studies, Evoked Potentials/QST, Autonomic studies, or IOM. This position may require coverage at Mayo Clinic locations in Phoenix or Scottsdale, Arizona, and participation in the EEG call rotation. The final job level (Tech I, II, or III) will be determined by the candidate's education, experience, credentials, and demonstrated competencies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of Mayo Clinic’s Neurotech Trainee program (for Tech I).
- Formal NDT education and a minimum of one (1) year of Neurodiagnostics experience (for Tech I).
- Graduate from a CAAHEP accredited NDT program and a minimum of one (1) year of Neurodiagnostics experience (for Tech I).
- Associate’s degree in Neurodiagnostics from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one (1) year of Neurodiagnostics experience (for Tech I).
- Completion of formal NDT education from an educational institution in coordination with a hospital and three (3) years of Neurodiagnostics experience (for Tech II).
- Graduate from a CAAHEP accredited NDT program and three (3) years of Neurodiagnostics experience (for Tech II).
- Associate’s degree in Neurodiagnostics from an accredited college or university with three (3) years of experience in Neurodiagnostics (for Tech II).
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of three (3) years of Neurodiagnostics experience (for Tech II).
- Completion of formal NDT education from an educational institution in coordination with a hospital and five (5) years of Neurodiagnostics experience (for Tech III).
- Graduate from a CAAHEP accredited NDT program and five (5) years of Neurodiagnostics experience (for Tech III).
- Associate’s degree in a Neurosciences related field/subject from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of Neurodiagnostics experience (for Tech III).
- Bachelor’s degree in Neurosciences related field/subject from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of Neurodiagnostics experience (for Tech III).
- Master's Degree in Neurosciences or related field, within 12 months of hire, and two (2) years of Neurophysiology experience (for Tech III).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date.
- Must be registered in one of the following based upon scope of work: REEGT, RNCST, or CAP (for Tech I).
- For Associate’s degree or formally educated candidates, designated registration must be obtained within 24 months from date of hire (for Tech I).
- Must be registered in one of the following based upon scope of work: REEGT, RNCST, CNCT, or CAP (for Tech II).
- Must be registered in one (1) of the following at time of hire: REEGT, RNCST, or CNIM (for Tech III).
- If supporting the IONM program, and the candidate has a Bachelor's degree or higher degree the advanced credential CNIM (e.g., NIMT) is required (for Tech III).
Nice To Haves
- Possession of more than one credential is preferred (for Tech II).
- REEGT required or preferred based on level and scope of practice (for Tech II).
- CLTM and/or demonstrated long-term EEG monitoring experience preferred for positions supporting continuous or long-term monitoring (for Tech II and Tech III).
- For technologists assigned to long-term EEG monitoring, CLTM and/or substantial long-term monitoring experience is preferred (for Tech III).
- Additional multi-credentials preferred (for Tech III if supporting IONM program with Bachelor's degree or higher).
Responsibilities
- Providing accurate, high-quality Neurodiagnostic testing.
- Performing routine and extended EEG testing.
- Supporting inpatient and/or long-term EEG monitoring.
- Applying and maintaining electrodes.
- Troubleshooting technical issues.
- Recognizing and escalating significant clinical or electrographic events.
- Documenting patient information and test results.
- Collaborating with physicians and other members of the care team.
- Meeting competency requirements appropriate to the assigned area of practice.
- Potentially providing coverage at Mayo Clinic in Arizona Phoenix or Scottsdale locations.
- Potentially participating in the EEG call rotation.
