About The Position

UPMC Procirca is seeking a full-time Neurodiagnostic Technician I to join their team. This role involves performing routine and complex procedures under direct supervision, following established guidelines, to gather data for diagnosing nervous system disorders. The technician will work in at least one of the Neurodiagnostics modalities: Electroencephalography (EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Epilepsy Monitoring, Polysomnography (PSG), or Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS). Duties may also include work in various diagnostic and research areas. The position offers a $10,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates and involves working rotating shifts (daylight, evening, and nights) 24/7, supporting UPMC Procirca sites across the Pittsburgh area. Requirements

HS diploma and 6 months of patient care OR an Associate or Bachelor degree.
For Procirca Employees Only: Successful completion of the END training program and obtaining the appropriate modality specific credential within two (2) years of the employee's hire date. Failure to meet credentialing requirements within this timeframe may impact continued employment in the role, per departmental standards.
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Responsibilities

Operate computer equipment to record nervous system responses that provide quantitative and objective measures of the neuronal/sensory function.
Collaborate with supervisor and medical personnel to resolve problems and to advise concerning laboratory procedures, techniques and equipment.
Clean, adjust and perform routine maintenance and repair on neurodiagnostic equipment to ensure proper functioning. Troubleshoot routine equipment problems.
Document pertinent medical history from the patient or family members.
React in medical emergencies to ensure patient safety; know unit and hospital procedures for working with high acuity patients.
Recognize changes in the clinical condition of the patient and correlate those changes with the EEG. Discriminate the changes requiring intervention such as seizures or cardiac arrhythmia.
Schedule patients for neurodiagnostic procedures and obtain required medical information; explain procedures, alleviate fears, and elicit cooperation. Prepare patient for tests to include measuring and marking cranial area and fastening electrodes to specified positions on scalp and body.
Perform procedures with appropriate documentation.
Identify EEG waveforms/patterns during testing and communicate to medical personnel.
