The Neurodiagnostic Technologist I contributes to a positive and productive work environment by performing and processing quality Electroencephalogram (EEG) tracings, following all Health First, Hospital Division and departmental protocols in a professional manner. This role involves performing EEG studies appropriate to the age and condition of the patient according to lab protocols and standards, obtaining and evaluating patient information prior to the procedure by reviewing the patient’s medical record, and alerting the Neurohospitalist and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team to the occurrence of non-convulsive and/or convulsive seizure activity. The technologist will communicate effectively and respectfully with all patients, licensed practitioners, and Associates, including any delays to the care team (nursing staff, Neurologist, and leadership). They will ensure compliance with American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) guidelines, comprehend the anatomical correlation of EEG waveforms, and distinguish normal adult EEG waveforms, variants, and artifactual activity in the EEG record. Additionally, the role ensures all long-term monitoring EEGs are set up to maintain skin integrity at electrode sites.
