About The Position

The Neurodiagnostic Assistant performs electro neurodiagnostic procedures in accordance with technical standards set forth by ASET, the Neurodiagnostic Society, including electroencephalography (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) with supervision. Collects and analyzes data. Performs technical interpretation of data and relates findings to Physicians and/or Neurophysiologist with supervision. Participates in continuous improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an Associate’s degree, or higher, in electro neurodiagnostic technology, AAS, from a CAAHEP accredited program
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR

Responsibilities

  • Performs tests and clinical interventions in areas of electroencephalography (EEG) and electromyography (EMG), and observes evoked potentials (EP) in a 24-hour hospital setting
  • Assists Neurodiagnostic Technologists in testing of diseases and disorders of the brain and central/peripheral nervous system through the provision of neurodiagnostic exams
  • Recognizes artifact, documents, and eliminates or takes proper measures to monitor the artifact
  • Performs day-to-day functions such as reviewing schedules, billing for services, and phone coverage.
  • Explains testing procedures to patients, answers questions and/or reassures patients as needed.
  • Accurately observes, records, and reports patient concerns, symptoms, and reactions in a timely manner
  • Maintains and troubleshoots multiple neurodiagnostic machines and equipment
  • Ensures proper document flow and storage according to established departmental guidelines
  • Able to pick up on call hours as needed
