About The Position

Erlanger is seeking a Neuro Stroke Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Stroke team in Chattanooga, TN. This vital role provides advanced, evidence-based care to patients experiencing acute stroke and other neurological conditions. The APP will manage patients from admission through discharge, working both independently and collaboratively with physicians, residents and APPs. The schedule is 7-on / 7-off, rotating between day and night shifts, offering flexibility and balance. Candidates must hold current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Tennessee, maintain national certification, and have ACLS and BLS credentials. Experience in neurology, stroke, or critical care is preferred. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation. Erlanger provides the highest level of care for complex stroke cases, offering advanced treatments and cutting-edge research protocols. The team operates 24/7 with rapid-response capabilities, neuroimaging services, and the region’s only dedicated Neuro Intensive Care Unit. An allied health professional, employed by Erlanger Health Systems, who performs as a physician extender by providing direct and indirect patient care under orders of the attending physician and within the guidelines of the current legislation of the State of Tennessee. The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate of the age of the patients served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide care needed as described in the center's policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Tennessee.
  • National certification.
  • ACLS and BLS credentials.
  • Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program accredited by the American Academy of Physician Assistant.
  • BS/BA required or completion from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program, Family Nurse Practitioner Program with Acute Care certification.
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants.
  • Performs under current legislation of the State of Tennessee (HB 1601, Public Chapter #719).
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee.
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the state of Tennessee.
  • National certification in a specialty (such as ACNP, ANP, CCNS, FNP).
  • Certificate of fitness from the state of Tennessee (as required by specialty).
  • BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward.
  • Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

Nice To Haves
