University Radiology is seeking a full-time Neuro IR Medical Assistant to join our team at our East Brunswick, NJ office. This role involves supporting patients who are frequently considered TBI (Traumatic Brain-Injured) and experience PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), requiring extreme sensitivity to patient needs. The Neurointerventional navigator may assist in referring patients to psychological support or specific support groups at the recommendation of the Neurointerventional radiologist. The position requires effective collaboration with referring physicians, anesthesiology, neurosurgery, pediatrics, vascular surgery, and other radiologists to ensure coordinated care. A strong understanding of insurance company requirements, pre-certification processes, and the timing of scheduled procedures based on these requirements is essential. The role involves managing a significant number of consults and follow-up MRIs/MRAs weekly, utilizing Doxy for telemedicine visits, and booking cases based on difficulty and acuity in coordination with various medical teams. Flexibility is crucial due to changing schedules and the need to accommodate emergencies by canceling or rescheduling clinic appointments. The Medical Assistant will also work with ARV order lists, maintain professional relationships with key departments and referring physician offices, and stay knowledgeable about procedures and protocols to assist technologists and radiologists. This includes patient preparation, obtaining necessary clinical information, reports, or images prior to procedures, and explaining procedures to patients. A critical responsibility includes time-sensitive management of Dual Antiplatelet therapy (Plavix/ASA), including initiation, monitoring, and adjustment based on lab data, as well as continuous monitoring of medications and lab values, assessing patients, and reporting non-responders or those needing medication adjustments to the Chief Administrative RN and/or Neurointerventional radiologist.
