About The Position

Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention for procedures while adhering to radiation safety principles. Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5:30pm. On-Call Requirement.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of Radiology Technology required.
  • Venipuncture experience required.
  • Valid Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure by the State of Florida
  • Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
  • Required to maintain BLS/Healthcare provider certification.
  • Three (3) years of experience in general Interventional Angiography procedures
  • Two (2) years of experience in Interventional Neuro Angiography.

  • Demonstrates professional judgment in service delivery and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care, recognizes patient conditions, and ensures successful completion of procedures and guidelines.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health’s mission statement and strategic imperatives.
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age-specific needs.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and ensures accurate documentation and communication to the appropriate team members.
  • Positions patient, equipment, and associated devices. Manipulates technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Provides instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired procedure results.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in contrast media administration with and without use of power injectors.
  • Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
  • Applies the principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Applies sterile techniques and appropriate standard precautions in utilizing Personal Protective equipment (PPE) to prevent cross-contamination in accordance with OH policy and training procedures.
  • Performs as a mentor/preceptor for new staff while maintaining high standards of patient care, documentation, and professionalism.
  • Assists the neurosurgeon/interventional radiologist as a scrub and/or circulator during procedures.
  • Performs general angiography as needed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge on the principles of interventional neurological procedures such as: Percutaneous angioplasty, vasospasm treatment, thrombolitic therapy and embolitic coiling procedures.
  • Understands the application and technical aspects of all equipment and supplies used in all procedures.
  • Verifies the operation of imaging equipment prior to all procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge on obtaining pertinent pre-procedural information.
  • Works closely with the supervisor, manager, and physicians to demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Appraises and evaluates actual and potential hemostasis of a vessel post-procedure.
  • Evaluates and independently resolves equipment problems within contractual guidelines. Notifies the appropriate division for repair.
  • Demonstrates knowledge regarding location, use, and troubleshooting of complex technical equipment and instruments. Acts as a resource for its operation and training.
  • Works with the Supervisor to establish efficiency in product usage and assists with ordering supplies.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Assists in the supervision of student technologists and the training of new technologists.
  • Maintains adequate inventory level of supplies, equipment, resources, tools, and forms including the neurointerventional room.
  • Participates on the planned emergency response team.
  • Ensures the safety of all customers.
  • Ensures that case turnover time is within established department standards by maintaining proper workflow and prioritizing optimal patient care.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures, department guidelines, and education requirements.
  • Follows established image processing techniques and procedures.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
  • Assists in developing and implementing essential policies and procedures.
  • Stays informed on all procedural changes and equipment updates.
  • Demonstrates efficient use of supplies.
  • Ensures work areas are well-stocked and organized.
  • Participates in processes to ensure that all OSHA, JC, FDA regulations are adhered to within the department.
  • Takes responsibility for professional growth and continuing education to maintain licensure.
  • Works at any facility as required by operational needs or organizational demands.
  • Participates in process improvement activities as assigned.
  • Provides patient transport.
