About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking a Product Security Engineer to support their Product Security Organization team in Huntington Beach, CA, focusing on the Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) division. This role is for a networking and distributed systems researcher who will join the Product Security Organization within BR&T to conduct Networking and Cyber Security research. The position involves supporting, leading, and developing software for new networking and cyber security concepts across tactical mobile ad-hoc network protocols, sensor protocols, airborne network overlays, or network management technologies. The successful candidate will mature these concepts and software to prove the feasibility of new network technologies, build prototypes to demonstrate capability, and test and evaluate prototypes in relevant environments. Understanding and meeting the requirements of management, peers, customers, and product security stakeholders is essential. The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work effectively in a dynamic team environment spanning research and product teams. They will also facilitate the successful and secure transition of technology from the research environment to Boeing programs and external customers. The role requires proficiency in C, C++, Python, and shell scripts. Experience with routing and transport protocols, network-oriented middleware, wireless and satellite networking systems, networking for embedded systems, tactical communications systems, network management, Quality of Service (QoS), and traffic engineering is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality implementation, testing, and documentation results on past projects is key. Experience developing hardware abstraction layer designs and firmware is also desirable. Being self-motivated, positive, and enjoying research-oriented projects while being challenged to learn new things is essential.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications.
This position requires eligibility for a US Top Secret Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship
3+ years of network development experience (TCP/IP, UDP, sockets, HTTPS, REST interface)
3+ years of experience designing and developing software using Python, C/C++, C# and/or Java
3+ years of experience with end-to-end knowledge of network transport technologies, systems, environments, services, protocols, performance monitoring and diagnostic analysis
1+ years of experience with Linux Kernel architecture and key areas of implementation

Nice To Haves

Experience with routing and transport protocols, network-oriented middleware, wireless and satellite networking systems, networking for embedded systems, tactical communications systems, network management, Quality of Service (QoS), and traffic engineering is highly desirable.
Experience with developing hardware abstraction layer designs and firmware is desirable.
5+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience leading projects, interfacing with customers, and demonstrating an ability to deliver high quality implementation, testing, and documenting results
Experience working with leadership, peers, and internal and external customers to understand and drive requirements
Experience with developing hardware abstraction layer designs and firmware
Experience with DevOps techniques

Responsibilities

Serve as a lead product security engineer for new concepts across tactical mobile ad-hoc network protocols, sensor protocols, airborne network overlays, or network management technologies
Responsible for maturing the concepts and software to prove the feasibility of new network and cyber security technologies
Responsible for building of secure prototypes to demonstrate the capability, and the test and evaluation of prototypes in relevant environments
Drive software execution to deliver products on-cost and on-schedule to programs
Responsible for software product security, safety, assurance, quality, and engineering excellence, including alignment with PSO policies, controls, and best practices
Drive first time quality in all phases of software development lifecycle
Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to integrate security-by-design into distributed networking systems and prototypes
