About The Position

The Networking Architect will lead the design and development of next-generation networking subsystems for Panasonic's In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFE/IFC) platforms. This role focuses on defining architecture for Layer 2/3 networking, security, virtualization, and containerized environments to support embedded systems and cloud integration.

Requirements

  • Networking Architecture: Expert-level experience with Layer 2/3 networking design, operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Linux Networking: Extensive experience with LAN/WAN, VLAN, VXLAN, IPv4/IPv6, TCP/UDP, routing/firewalls, NAT, DHCP, DNS, NTP, AVB, TLS, multicast, QoS.
  • Networking Tools: iptables, routing utilities, and Linux-based networking stacks.
  • Protocols & Technologies: OSPF, BGP, VPN, SDN, DNS, Load Balancing, Firewalls.
  • Virtualization & Containers: Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, container-based networking solutions.
  • Security: Networking security and cryptography, secure communication protocols.
  • Commercial Networking Equipment: Cisco, Juniper routers; Palo Alto, Juniper, Cisco firewalls; F5 load balancers.
  • Cloud Networking: AWS networking services (VPC, VPN, SDN).
  • Documentation: Familiarity with architecture diagramming tools and models.
  • Agile Practices: Experience in SAFe Agile development processes.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in networking architecture and design for complex systems.
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking, routing protocols, and security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead technical discussions.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for collaboration in global teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AWS Cloud Computing and cloud-native networking solutions.
  • Exposure to container orchestration and web-scale networking designs.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

  • Define architecture and design for networking subsystems supporting embedded IFE/IFC systems.
  • Specify and design solutions for network elements of platform infrastructure, including Layer 2/3 networks, WAN, LAN, WLAN, and security.
  • Develop networking design patterns and frameworks for virtualization/containerization (hosting, networks, storage).
  • Enable self-service tooling for managing airside network deployments and operational concerns.
  • Document architecture goals, risks, and design decisions, including non-functional requirements (NFRs).
  • Review existing networking designs and implement improvements.
  • Provide end-to-end engineering, implementation, and support for network solutions involving WAN, LAN, WLAN, Security, and Virtual technologies.
  • Collaborate with platform architects and engineering teams to meet networking requirements.
  • Participate in SAFe Agile ART teams, PI planning, and architecture reviews.
  • Prepare architecture diagrams, design documents, and test reports for networking solutions.
