About The Position

INNOVIM is seeking a Network Virtualization Engineer/Administrator to support network build out and deployments to the C2BMC Test Facility for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will serve as a Network Virtualization Engineer/Administrator supporting network build out and deployments to the C2BMC Test Facility as necessary to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. This role is located at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO. The position requires a DoW Secret clearance and is a day shift role with core duty hours from 0900-1500, Monday-Friday, with flexibility to arrive earlier/later. Occasional off shift, extended, or weekend support may be required. Travel is up to 10% of the time, with occasional local travel to support off-site customers and projects. The successful candidate will work on complex assignments, perform a wide range of VMware system administration activities with little to no direct supervision, and provide root-cause analysis for recurring or critical problems. They will collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity administrators to maintain a high-quality test environment, perform vulnerability remediation, conduct daily system monitoring, backups, and upgrades. Documentation of system changes and advising the Government customer on system status and improvements are also key responsibilities. Assisting the system administration team with the deployment of new virtual machines and performing administration of virtualization environments, including troubleshooting, break/fix, patching, and audit log reviews, are expected. Good written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience briefing customers and management, are essential.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of general (full-time) work experience.
  • 5 or more years of directly related experience (can be a mix of Network and Virtualization).
  • 1 or more years of experience working in a management or leadership role.
  • Experience in Internet Protocols (e.g. DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SSL).
  • Firewall configuration and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with Multiple network types of telecommunications infrastructures.
  • Effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio drawing tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently on large field projects.
  • Deep understanding of Foundational VCF Infrastructure including Virtualization (vSphere), Networking (NSX) and Storage (vSAN).
  • Ability to use SDDC Manager to patch, upgrade and provide overall system maintenance.
  • Fundamental understanding of how traffic flows through logical routers with the ability to implement these concepts in an NSX environment.
  • Ability to configure distributed stateful firewalling, NAT, load balancing and micro segmentation using NSX.
  • Experience with the design, installation, upgrading and migration of storage using VMware vSAN.
  • Ability to migrate virtual machines and workloads from deprecated versions of vSphere to VMware Cloud Foundation.
  • A current DoW 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CySA, etc.) or higher.
  • An active DoW Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated understanding of the project management lifecycle and related processes.
  • Experience with PIM, L2 and L3 multicast and type I encryption devices.
  • Experience with VXLAN, Juniper Apstra, VMWare Aria and RHEL Ansible.
  • Experience with HPE server products.
  • Experience creating and configuring virtual distributed switches.
  • A VMware Certified Technical Associate - Data Center Virtualization (VCTA), VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV), VCAP Design, VCAP Deploy or VCDX-DCV Certification.
  • Knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems and MDIOC operations.
  • A Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA) certification.
  • Experience with Python or PowerShell programming and scripting.
  • A degree in an IT or Engineering related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and configuration of VMware, including protocols, switching, best-practice configurations, connectivity, and networking concepts.
  • Perform a wide range of VMware system administration activities with little to no direct supervision.
  • Provide root-cause analysis for recurring or critical problems.
  • Work closely with a team of system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity administrators to maintain a high-quality test environment for the Government customer.
  • Perform vulnerability remediation and mitigations to reduce cybersecurity risks and ensure DoD compliance.
  • Conduct daily system monitoring, system backup and restoral, and application upgrades to ensure optimal and continuous system operations.
  • Document necessary system changes and actions in appropriate systems of record.
  • Advise Government customer on system status, optimization and improvement efforts.
  • Assist system administration team with the deployment of new virtual machines.
  • Perform administration of virtualization environments to include troubleshooting, break/fix activities, patching and remediation of servers, and system audit log reviews.
  • Brief customers and management.
