About The Position

The Network Virtualization Engineer/Administrator supports network build-out and deployment activities for the C2BMC Test Facility in support of the Missile Defense Agency on the IRES contract. This position is responsible for administering and troubleshooting complex VMware virtualization environments, supporting network and system operations, maintaining compliance with Department of Defense cybersecurity requirements, and providing reliable technical support to ensure a high-quality test environment for the Government customer.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) or more years of general full-time work experience; advanced education may reduce this requirement where applicable.
  • Five (5) or more years of directly related experience in network and/or virtualization engineering or administration.
  • One (1) or more years of experience working in a management or leadership role.
  • Experience with Internet protocols, including DNS, HTTP, SMTP, and SSL, as well as firewall configuration, troubleshooting, and multiple telecommunications/network infrastructure types.
  • Deep understanding of VMware Cloud Foundation infrastructure, including vSphere virtualization, NSX networking, and vSAN storage.
  • Ability to use SDDC Manager to patch, upgrade, and perform overall system maintenance.
  • Ability to configure distributed stateful firewalling, NAT, load balancing, micro-segmentation, and logical routing concepts in an NSX environment.
  • Experience designing, installing, upgrading, migrating, and supporting VMware vSAN storage environments.
  • Ability to migrate virtual machines and workloads from deprecated versions of vSphere to VMware Cloud Foundation.
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, CySA+, or higher.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, an active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare briefings, presentations, and technical documentation using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with highly motivated technical teams in a mission-focused environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of the project management lifecycle and related processes.
  • Experience with PIM, Layer 2 and Layer 3 multicast, and Type I encryption devices.
  • Experience with VXLAN, Juniper Apstra, VMware Aria, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Ansible.
  • Experience with HPE server products.
  • Experience creating and configuring virtual distributed switches.
  • VMware certification such as VCTA, VCP-DCV, VCAP Design, VCAP Deploy, or VCDX-DCV.
  • Knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems, and MDIOC operations.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA) certification.
  • Experience with Python or PowerShell programming and scripting.
  • Degree in an IT, engineering, or related technical discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Support network build-out and deployment activities for the C2BMC Test Facility as required by customer and mission needs.
  • Administer, configure, troubleshoot, patch, and maintain VMware virtualization environments, including vSphere, NSX, vSAN, and VMware Cloud Foundation infrastructure.
  • Perform vulnerability remediation, mitigation activities, server patching, system audit log reviews, and other actions required to reduce cybersecurity risk and maintain DoD compliance.
  • Conduct daily system monitoring, system backup and restoration, application upgrades, and operational checks to support continuous system availability.
  • Provide root-cause analysis for recurring or critical technical issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with deployment, migration, and administration of virtual machines and workloads, including migration from deprecated vSphere versions to VMware Cloud Foundation.
  • Configure and support distributed stateful firewalling, NAT, load balancing, micro-segmentation, logical routing, and related NSX networking functions.
  • Document system changes, maintenance actions, incident activity, and configuration updates in approved systems of record.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, cybersecurity administrators, and Government stakeholders to maintain a secure and effective test environment.
  • Brief customers, leadership, and management on system status, risks, optimization opportunities, and improvement efforts.
