About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking a Network Technician 3 to join their Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. This role supports the US Air Force Education and Training Center (AETC) and involves designing, engineering, integrating, operating, and maintaining enterprise, campus, and Base Area Network (BAN) infrastructure. This includes managing switches, routers, HAIPE/bulk encryptors, wireless infrastructure, inside and outside plant cabling, racks/cabinets, pathways, and bonding/grounding systems.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a DoD SECRET Clearance is REQUIRED.
  • Requires a Valid driver's license.
  • Selected candidates must possess an acceptable driving record.
  • HS diploma or GED is required.
  • 6+ years of electronics installation and/or maintenance activities on multiple systems and with multiple customer programs.
  • Strong Oral, Written and Presentation Skills.
  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to relocate a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Ability to work at various heights up to 60 feet and climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Ability to walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate fluently in English.
  • Use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Ability to identify problems including potential problems such as improper installation, safety hazards.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

Nice To Haves

  • Vendor certifications in multiple cabling vendors such as Commscope, Corning, etc.
  • Networking vendor certifications to include Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto.
  • Graduation from an accredited Electronics Technician program.
  • Graduation from an Electrical Apprenticeship program.
  • 3 years of the above experience must be focused in supporting large scale cabling infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with DoD and/or U.S. Air Force standards for network equipment, cabling installation, bonding and grounding.
  • Strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint Skills is a plus.
  • BICSI credentials to include Technician and/or Installer.

Responsibilities

  • Execute technical tasks and responsibilities within field operations of Base Area Networks at multiple locations.
  • Perform on-site installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of equipment and systems.
  • Ensure the functionality and reliability of various technologies.
  • Conduct site surveys, configure network hardware and software, test systems, and provide technical support.
  • Utilize and comprehend project Safety plans (JHA, AHA, PFW), enforcing adherence to USAF safety requirements and M.C. Dean policies.
  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) properly.
  • Analyze and interpret M.C. Dean drawing packages to assess constructability, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain as-built documentation for Moves/Adds/Changes.
  • Verify correct charges in timesheets and execute installation/maintenance within planned durations.
  • Track and inventory tools, conduct tool inspections, and perform end-of-day tool inventory.
  • Participate in daily Operational Risk Management (ORM) safety meetings.
  • Install system raceway, cabling, equipment racks, enclosures, panels, and mounting hardware, ensuring proper grounding and NEC standards.
  • Terminate, test, and configure network and IT equipment including switches, routers, wireless access points, antennas, and bulk encryptors.
  • Install various types of Low Voltage Cable (CAT 5/6/6a STP/UTP, SMFO/MMFO).
  • Rack and stack MDF head end and IDF telecom room equipment, terminate cables and accessories per industry standards.
  • Survey and document existing telecommunications infrastructure using electronic devices.
  • Communicate consistently with MC Dean Operations Teams, exhibiting dedication, punctuality, and preparedness.
  • Act as a collaborative teammate, providing and absorbing constructive feedback.
  • Plan and prioritize tasks effectively, embodying the M.C. Dean vision, mission, and values.
  • Survey and document existing field conditions, providing feedback and recommendations.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support.
