About The Position

Hill Country Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (HCTC) has an opening for a Network Systems Technician. This position involves providing technical assistance and support for customer-owned networks, as well as offering a range of special services like network, phone, and wireless solutions to HCTC customers. The role is crucial in delivering 'white glove' service for the installation and setup of customer networks and equipment. You will collaborate with customers to recommend, sell, install, set up, test, and troubleshoot their networks and devices connected to HCTC internet services. Additionally, you will provide customer support, installation, and maintenance for telecom systems. A basic understanding of customer premise installation of telecom services and the ability to work in confined spaces like attics and crawl spaces are recommended for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic TCP/IP Networking required (Ethernet, WLAN).
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective, professional and courteous communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple job assignments in a dynamic environment
  • Must have a valid Class C Texas driver's license.
  • If relocating to Texas from another state or country, must have, at a minimum, a valid driver's license issued by the home state equivalent to a Texas Class C. The employee will be required to obtain a Texas driver' license within thirty days.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable via HCTC's standard auto insurance policy procedures.
  • Appreciation for technology and enjoy helping people.
  • Good at explaining technology to people in layman's terms.
  • Courteous, tactful, and goal-oriented with a team attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Avaya IP Office, ESI, NEC experience desired.
  • Ubiquiti AirMax, Unifi Networking desired.
  • Building trades or related trade experience desired.
  • A basic knowledge of customer premise installation of telecom services.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces.

Responsibilities
