About The Position

Hill Country Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (HCTC) has an opening for a Network Systems Technician. HCTC is an established and community-minded telecommunication provider, founded in 1951 to furnish telephone service in the overlooked rural areas of the Hill Country. This full-time position involves providing technical assistance and support for customer-owned networks and a wide range of special services, including network, phone, and wireless solutions to HCTC customers. The role emphasizes delivering 'white glove' service for the installation and setup of networks and equipment. Responsibilities include working with customers to recommend, sell, install, setup, test, and troubleshoot their networks and devices connected to HCTC internet services, in addition to providing customer support, installation, and maintenance of telecom systems.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of customer premise installation of telecom services
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces
  • Knowledge of basic TCP/IP Networking (Ethernet, WLAN)
  • Effective, professional and courteous communication skills
  • Must have a valid Class C Texas driver's license
  • If relocating to Texas from another state or country, must have, at a minimum, a valid driver's license issued by the home state equivalent to a Texas Class C
  • The employee will be required to obtain a Texas driver's license within thirty days
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable via HCTC's standard auto insurance policy procedures

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and support for customer owned networks

  • Work with customers to recommend, sell, install, setup, test and troubleshoot their own networks and devices connected to HCTC internet services
  • Provide customer support, installation and maintenance of telecom systems
  • Prioritize multiple job assignments in a dynamic environment
