About The Position

This role involves designing, building, and troubleshooting web-based applications using Weblogic Server/Portal within a UNIX infrastructure. The engineer will manage multiple projects, adapt to change, and provide J2EE hosting solutions. Key responsibilities include working closely with application teams, gathering configuration needs, facilitating changes with administrators and vendors, and providing on-call support with flexible hours. The role also requires daily interaction with customers for Middleware and Java support, serving as a J2EE architect, designing Middleware infrastructure for high availability, providing technical consultation, communicating with business partners, interfacing with internal and external vendors, and executing production changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology and/or field experience with at least 8-10 years supporting Jboss, JBoss Datagrid, Weblogic, Tomcat, IBM HTTP Server, Apache, and similar Middleware products (app server) and web servers.
  • J2EE experience at the large scale enterprise system level.
  • Extensive scripting experience in Jython, Python, YAML and Perl.
  • Administration of Middleware using tool such as mDeliver, BladeLogic, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Middleware products using various diagnostic tools.
  • Experience with, and understanding of, peripheral systems (network, load balancing/workload management, application development, operating system), and with monitoring systems (Splunk, Introscope, Sitescope, etc.).
  • Knowledge of industry security baselines.
  • Create documentation for troubleshooting, performance, optimization, and remediation.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both business and technical management.

Responsibilities

  • Web-based application (Weblogic Server/Portal) server design and build outs for applications and services in a UNIX infrastructure.
  • Troubleshooting complex application integration points and coordinating with virtual team members across the enterprise to deliver complex J2EE hosting solutions.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and be readily adaptable to change.
  • Manage and work closely with application teams deploying new applications in the Weblogic hosting environment(s).
  • Gather application configuration needs and facilitate changes with administrators and product vendor (when need be) to resolve technical configuration or application issues etc.
  • Provide on call support and flexible working hours.
  • Working with customers (application teams and/or testing teams) on a daily basis and providing Middleware and Java support.
  • Serving as a J2EE architect and making recommendations on J2EE best practices in application development.
  • Designing Middleware infrastructure and Middleware topology design for high availability and failover capability.
  • Providing technical consultation to other team members and their supported areas.
  • Communicating with business partners at an enterprise level.
  • Interfacing with internal customers and external vendors for consultation at various points of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Executing production changes for Bank integrated and regulatory releases with precision.
