About The Position

Monitor network administration and maintenance operations. Manage the design evolution of existing operational networks and resolve network incidents to ensure the smooth running of the network operation. Apply advanced consulting skills and extensive technical expertise, including full industry knowledge. Develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Work without considerable direction, and mentor and supervise team members. Provide support to communication systems, including Joint Network Node (JNN), Satellite Transportable Terminal (STT), Regional Hub Node (RHN), Soldier Network Extension (SNE), and Tactical Communications Node (TCN).

Requirements

  • Experience with the configuration of commercial IP routers and ethernet switches
  • Experience with firewalls, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), the Intrusion Detection System (IDS), and High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptors (HAIPEs)
  • Experience with cloud technologies, data center networks, Software Defined Networking (SDN), or Network Function Virtualization (NFV)
  • Experience with network modeling and simulation tools such as OPNET or Riverbed Modeler, and EXata, and using tools for network performance testing, management, and troubleshooting such as Wireshark
  • Experience with the configuration of standard networking equipment such as commercial IP routers and ethernet switches
  • Knowledge of wireless and SATCOM networks
  • Knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol or Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networks and network architectures
  • Knowledge of standard networking protocol for transport, including Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) routing, and network services such as Domain Name Server (DNS), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), and Network Time Protocol or Precision Time Protocol (NTP/PTP)
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in CS, Electrical Engineering, IT, or Information Systems

  • Experience with DoD network architectures and technologies
  • Experience in experimentation, prototyping, and piloting
  • Experience assessing customer's needs, and identifying and proposing viable technical solutions
  • Ability to engineer robust communication solutions for stressed environments
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Security+, or CISSP Certification
