Requirements

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, subnetting, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and packet flow analysis.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity issues and determine whether problems are related to routing, firewall policy, NAT, VPN connectivity, DNS, application behavior, or external systems.
  • Understanding of enterprise firewall concepts, including security zones, policy evaluation, source/destination matching, applications, services, address objects, and NAT policies.
  • Ability to analyze firewall logs and traffic logs to determine policy matches, identify blocked traffic, validate expected behavior, and support incident investigation.
  • Experience using troubleshooting and packet analysis tools such as Wireshark to validate traffic flows and support root cause analysis.
  • Experience performing firewall administration activities, including policy implementation, rule modifications, object management, NAT configuration, policy cleanup, and log analysis.
  • Experience supporting firewall software upgrades and maintenance activities in enterprise environments, including upgrade planning, pre/post-change validation, maintenance window execution, and change verification.
  • Familiarity with Palo Alto Networks NGFW technologies, including Security Policies, NAT Policies, Security Zones, App-ID, User-ID, Logging, Objects, Panorama, and Threat Prevention.
  • Exposure to enterprise firewall platforms such as Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Check Point, Cisco, or similar security technologies.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and the associated network protocols and concepts.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic scripting, automation, or API experience is considered an asset.
  • Industry certification is an advantage in one or more of the following: Palo Alto Networks: Network Security Analyst, Next-Generation Firewall Engineer, Network Security Professional, or equivalent Palo Alto certification. Fortinet: FCP (Fortinet Certified Professional), FCSS (Fortinet Certified Solution Specialist), or equivalent Fortinet network security certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a professional, responsive, and customer-focused experience for managed services and support clients. Maintain clear communication throughout the request lifecycle, set appropriate expectations, and ensure clients receive timely updates.
  • Maintain a foundational understanding of networking and firewall technologies (Primarily PAN NGFW) to effectively perform Level 1 triage, troubleshooting, and operational support activities.
  • Operate within established service desk processes, including ticket intake, validation, prioritization, documentation, escalation, and closure. Ensure incidents, requests, and changes are accurately recorded and managed in accordance with company standards and service level objectives.
  • Proactively manage individual workload, client commitments, and operational responsibilities to ensure work is delivered effectively and on time. Maintain an accurate calendar, track action items and follow-ups, manage competing priorities, and regularly reassess workload based on changing business and client needs.
  • Engage with security technology partners for enhanced issue resolution and escalation.
  • Participate in after-hours response rotation to ensure continuous security coverage.
