Network Planning Engineer

L3HHCM20Palm Bay, FL
$122,000 - $227,000

About The Position

Conducts network architecture design, feasibility and modeling. Designs, analyzes, plans, and modifies network components and/or software by translating customer requirements and objectives into final product design. Develops and evaluates network performance criteria and measurement methods. Prepares analysis of the short-term or long-term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling. Implementation and support of complex networks.   Essential Functions: Evaluate Space network technologies and designs in relation to the critical infrastructure and service needs for external customers. Work with requirements to define and implement network function in non-standard routers, switches and IPSEC devices. Exercise knowledge of OSI model, packet/frame structure, routing and MPLS. Implement engineered solutions with network function that support system-level requirements, including Quality of Service (QoS) solutions. Document hardware queues, buffers and prioritization schemes. Participate in inter-program working group and cross-technology initiatives and discussions to resolve technical challenges. Create and maintain documentation for network, QoS, protocols and system-level designs. Lead network activities at a program-level, coordinating with the ground network engineer and serving as the program interface for network working groups. Work directly with systems engineers in a range of specialties focused on every aspect of a space mission. Given applicable manual(s), solve issues relating to hardware or software configuration to identify technical issues and resolutions for new non-standard devices. Solve complex configuration issues with leading network vendors such as HP/HPE, Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Palo Alto, Fortinet and F5. Implement complex architectures and work through the security approval process to advance the mission on internal networks and help IT organizations understand the architecture. Work with classified and unclassified cloud connectivity such as AWS or other government facilities. Configure/operate GFE security applications, such as Manticore and Cracken. Configure, implement and troubleshoot complex problems for high assurance encryption devices used in encryption of data in transit (KG family of encryptors). Implement and troubleshoot IP and MPLS networks. Implement network tools, such as NetFlow, Layer 3 VPNs, Pseudo wire, Ethernet switching, encapsulation, IPSEC, TCP and UDP signaling, and CCSDS protocols. Design and implement routing and pathing including OSPFv2, OSPFv3, BGP, MPLS. Define and implement complex solutions in different non-standard devices to meet defined network objectives and management of queues and buffers.
