About The Position

The Technology, Data, and Intelligence (TDI) organization is the engine that powers Okta's global workforce, providing the technology and systems that enable our employees to do their best work. The TDI Network Engineering Team is responsible for the global corporate network, building and supporting a high-performing, reliable network at scale. As a member of this team, you will have a direct impact on network design, deployment, and reliability, enabling our employees to work effectively from any location globally. Your role will be to ensure the overall security and integrity of our corporate network is maintained by leveraging network security best practices, security products and services, and performing security validation. This role will own the full operational lifecycle, Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and availability for network services within the team. You will be responsible for writing production-quality code to automate repetitive tasks and designing tooling to eliminate team-level toil, working closely with the Business Technology team to ensure the network remains reliable, secure, and well-documented.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or an advanced degree without experience.
  • Strong proficiency in writing production-quality code to automate repetitive tasks and eliminate toil.
  • Comprehensive understanding of core networking concepts and principles (WiFi, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN, ACLs, Routing, and Firewall Policies).
  • Demonstrated experience working with network device monitoring, alerting, and logging tools.
  • A strong ability to foster open dialogue and collaboration among the immediate team while maintaining a secure, consistent end-user experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with Juniper/JUNOS switching/routing and Palo Alto Networks NGFWs is preferred and will give you a head start in supporting our infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full operational lifecycle, SLOs, and availability for network services, driving accountability and supporting scalable solutions in physical and virtual environments.
  • Design and develop new automation and tooling by writing production-quality code to eliminate team-level toil and improve overall system efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with the Workplace Team, TDI Teams, Security, and other stakeholders to resolve recurring incidents and improve IT network security.
  • Maintain fleet-wide consistency across software, configuration, and security, while assisting with the research and implementation of innovative network technologies.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, maintaining composure during live incidents to apply structured troubleshooting, and accurately translating engineering impacts to non-technical stakeholders.
