About The Position

The Network Operations Center Technician monitors network systems and supports the restoration, performance, and availability of IP networks, messaging systems, and Air to Ground data communications equipment and systems. The role tracks incidents, troubleshoots network and system problems, resolves or escalates issues, and provides customers with guidance. The technician works with team members and management on issues of varying complexity, participates in network design and configuration, and helps improve deployment, configuration, and maintenance processes. Individual duties may vary. This is an onsite overnight role in Annapolis, Maryland, with a scheduled shift of 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The operation center runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and the role requires some weekend and holiday work. The position is contract to hire.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the network management system and engage telecom providers to drive service restoration.
• Track incident details and update the incident management tool promptly and accurately.
• Solve systems and network problems and questions within a limited scope and complexity.
• Apply technical knowledge to oversee high-availability IP networks, messaging systems, and Air to Ground data communications equipment and systems.
• Seek guidance from team members or management to resolve less routine issues.
• Work with team members to resolve moderate to complex issues affecting critical customer services and lead resolution of less complex issues when appropriate.
• Use discretion to interpret and apply established processes, recognizing that errors could cause prolonged or widespread failures.
• Monitor and troubleshoot system performance; resolve or escalate network issues.
• Understand deployment, configuration, and maintenance routines, and develop tools to make those processes more efficient.
• Participate in network solutions design and configurations.
• Analyze issues and provide customers with guidance to resolve problems.
