About The Position

UPMC is looking for a NOC (Network Operations Center) Analyst Associate to join their team. This role will be Fully on-site supporting our Forbes Tower location (WFH technology available for short -term or emergency needs. Will only be accepting candidates within the PA area since this role will be ON-SITE at our Freeport Datacenter.
This role will work a series of rotation shifts to include
· Daylight (7a-3:30p)
· Afternoon (2pm – 12pm)
· Overnight (10pm – 8am) and weekend coverage on 12-hour shifts (noon – midnight and opposite)

The NOC Analyst Associate provides first-line operational support in UPMC’s 24x7x365 Network Operations Center, monitoring enterprise data and voice networks and responding to alerts, outages, and performance issues. Working in a large, multi-vendor environment, the analyst uses enterprise monitoring and diagnostic tools to identify impact, perform initial troubleshooting, document findings, communicate status, and escalate issues to senior NOC staff, engineering teams, carriers, and vendors when needed.

Requirements

• Foundational understanding of operational support for data networks and enterprise monitoring tools.
• Basic experience with or exposure to logging into switches/routers and reviewing configurations.
• Familiarity with packet capture and analysis tools such as Wireshark or Riverbed.
• Working knowledge of OSI and TCP/IP models.
• Understanding of network protocols (TCP/UDP/SNMP/BGP/ISIS/EIGRP/OSPF).
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to remain focused under pressure.
• Effective collaboration skills and the ability to work with peers, engineers, and business partners.
• Familiarity with the operational support of data networks and network management tools through education or practical experience.
• Effective in relationships with business partners, professional peers, and other team members.
• Familiar with various sniffer products.
• Analytical skills and an understanding of Data Center networking.
• Understanding of the TCP/IP protocol (TCP and UDP).

Nice To Haves

• CCNA or equivalent vendor certification.
• Prior experience working in a NOC environment.
• Practical hands-on experience with enterprise network platforms.
• Experience logging into routers/switches.

Responsibilities

• Monitor enterprise data and voice networks using StableNet, Nokia WaveSuite/NFM-P, Splunk, Palo Alto Panorama, and related tools.
• Respond to alarms, outages, and abnormal conditions; assess impact, perform initial troubleshooting, and restore service when possible.
• Provide Level 1 support for switches, routers, firewalls, WAN circuits, and related network infrastructure.
• Escalate incidents with clear technical findings and coordinate testing and repair with network engineers, telecom carriers, vendors, and internal teams.
• Communicate timely, accurate updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders while delivering strong customer service.
• Create and maintain incident records, procedures, troubleshooting guides, network diagrams, and data center cabling/fiber documentation.
• Support network equipment installations, deployments, testing, and other operational projects as assigned.
• Protect confidential information, follow security and incident response standards, and participate in ongoing training and mentorship.
