Network Manager
About The Position
GDIT is seeking a Network Manager to lead a general Network Engineering organization spanning traditional routing and switching, cloud networking, enterprise network security, visibility, and modern operations. The role combines technical and people leadership, with responsibility for delivering customer mission outcomes, meeting program milestones, and maintaining reliable, secure, and efficient network services. The manager will lead a high-performing team, evaluate emerging technologies, and coordinate delivery across network and related service domains. The position oversees operational delivery, service health, continuous improvement, staffing and development, technology strategy, escalations, stakeholder relationships, capacity planning, investments, documentation, operational readiness, and automation. The manager partners with program management, security operations, cloud, infrastructure, and other service tower leads to support seamless end-to-end service delivery. The role is remote for eligible Louisiana residents located more than 60 miles from GDIT's Integrated Technology Center in Bossier City, Louisiana. Travel is less than 10%. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher security clearance.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in enterprise network engineering and operations, including people leadership or technical management overseeing network engineering teams in a managed services, government, or large enterprise environment.
- Strong hands-on and architectural knowledge of Cisco routing and switching, including enterprise campus, data center, and WAN technologies; modern routing protocols, switching fabrics, and network design best practices.
- Practical experience with cloud networking across major providers (AWS, Azure, and GCP), including VPCs/VNets, transit architectures, hybrid connectivity, and cloud-native networking services.
- Working knowledge of next-generation firewalls and SASE platforms, including Palo Alto Networks NGFW, Panorama, Strata Cloud Manager, Prisma Access, and/or GlobalProtect.
- Familiarity with microsegmentation (Illumio and/or Gigamon/ExtraHop), policy analysis tools (AlgoSec or equivalent), and WAF technologies (F5 Distributed Cloud or equivalent).
- Experience with enterprise network monitoring and observability platforms such as SolarWinds, ScienceLogic, NetBrain, or comparable tools such as ThousandEyes, ExtraHop, or Gigamon visibility fabric; ability to use them for performance, capacity, and fault management.
- Strong understanding of ITIL/ITSM practices, change management, and operational governance.
- Track record of evaluating and successfully introducing networking, cloud, or observability technologies.
- Experience leading technical teams through complex transitions, migrations, technology refreshes, or multi-domain network transformations in large enterprise or multi-tenant environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience delivering briefings and status updates to senior customer and internal leadership.
- Strong people leadership and coaching skills.

- Forward-thinking mindset and enthusiasm for evaluating and adopting networking, cloud, security, and observability technologies.
- Must possess a Cisco certification (CCNP/CCIE) or equivalent depth of routing and switching experience.
- Must possess a Palo Alto Networks certification (PCNSE/PCSAE or higher) or equivalent deep platform experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher security clearance.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Network Engineering team responsible for enterprise routing and switching, cloud networking, network security services, network visibility, and monitoring and observability platforms.
- Own operational delivery, service health, and continuous improvement across the network domain; set priorities, allocate work, and ensure milestones, SLAs, and customer expectations are met.
- Coach and manage employee performance, support career development and hiring, and retain technical talent while fostering accountability, technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Evaluate emerging networking, cloud, security, and observability technologies and drive adoption of solutions that improve reliability, security, automation, and operational efficiency.
- Serve as a primary escalation point for complex technical and operational issues and coordinate with senior engineers on architecture decisions, major incidents, and high-risk changes.
- Partner with Program Management, security operations, cloud, infrastructure, and other Service Tower leads to ensure cross-domain integration and end-to-end service delivery.
- Manage customer and partner relationships and represent the team in operational reviews, architecture discussions, change control forums, and technology roadmap conversations.
- Drive capacity planning, resource forecasting, and coordination of hardware, software, cloud, and tooling investments.
- Maintain documentation, runbooks, knowledge transfer, monitoring coverage, and operational readiness standards; support audit and compliance activities as needed.
- Promote automation, infrastructure-as-code mindsets, and modern practices that reduce toil and improve consistency across traditional and cloud networking environments.
