About The Position

A member of a team that is collectively responsible for highest level or privileged access to the circuits and network devices that comprise the Shelter network, including firewalls and load balancers, security systems and devices, and all circuits such as WAN/MPLS, internet, replication, and SIP trunks. Daily work frequently involves critical infrastructure and data/configuration that is replicated off-site for disaster recovery purposes.

Requirements

  • Established subject matter expert for new and existing technologies.
  • Experience training peers on technology, taking on a leadership role, and working with upper management.
  • Experience supporting Security initiatives and implementing Security best practices.
  • Scripting and automation experience.
  • Experience working single data center network with disaster recovery site.
  • Windows Server, Linux and Mac OS system administration familiarity.
  • Experience with most of the following: Network monitoring systems (ex: Solarwinds)
  • Sniffer/packet capture tools (ex: Wireshark)
  • SSH and Telnet client and terminal emulator programs (ex: SecureCRT)
  • Governance, Risk and Compliance assessments, PCI compliance and audits.
  • Contracts, implementations, terminations, and maintenance of circuits from various providers.
  • Disaster recovery.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, implements, and monitors network systems related to: Network routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, WIFI systems, Circuits: WAN/MPLS, internet, replication, SIP, Network VPNs.
  • Assures off-site disaster recovery environment is consistently available and participates in semi-annual disaster recovery testing
  • Works closely with IT Security to select, implement, and maintain Security related systems and address Security related incidents/events.
  • Completes day-to-day administration, monitoring and maintenance related to routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, packet shapers, wireless systems, and circuits.
  • Conducts complex troubleshooting and repair tasks on network at a detailed level by device.
  • Identifies and resolves recurring issues and mitigates reliability risks.
  • Coordinates, plans and/or executes multiple annual disaster recovery exercises.
  • Adheres to established change management processes.
  • Creates and maintains operational procedures.
  • Provides level 3 technical support and participates in team on-call rotation.
  • Participates in annual budget and various purchasing processes for consulting, services, hardware, software, and maintenance associated with primary areas of responsibility.
  • Participates in capacity planning ensuring that our systems have the necessary capacity to meet strategic business needs with few or no reliability issues.
  • Works with 3rd party vendors to procure hardware and software solutions, as well as addressing updates and issues after implementation.
  • Provides assistance and mentoring to Network Infrastructure Administrators and other Network Infrastructure Engineers.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet ongoing business needs.
