About The Position

As a Network Implementation Engineer on the Network Delivery Implementation team, you will help execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. You will collaborate with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers, construction vendors, and telecommunications contractors. The role contributes to building a reliable, cost-effective, and scalable network and supports network capacity delivery to Google customers. The team owns the network lifecycle in data centers and metro points of presence, including space and power assets, and participates in work ranging from site acquisition and construction to architecture, design, installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning. The position also offers an opportunity to influence network delivery through automation and process innovation.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Network or Telecom Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
3 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology.
Experience interpreting and validating deployment packages, including orders and construction specifications; verifying design accuracy; and escalating discrepancies to engineering partners.

Nice To Haves

Experience in one or more of these disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmission systems, Layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations.
Experience identifying recurring errors in deployment packages or specifications and driving feedback loops to improve design accuracy and operational efficiency.
Familiarity with network automation tools, scripting, or SQL for querying databases and tracking deployment consistency.
Linux experience, such as running commands and moving directories.

Responsibilities

Oversee and audit installation technicians performing rack, stack, and networking equipment installation.
Commission and test routers, optical transport equipment, and other network devices in new and existing network nodes across Google's global network.
Generate implementation plans and provide technical leadership and guidance during deployment activities.
Work with project management, network engineering, and other engineering teams to identify potential network installation issues in advance, including facility power (AC/DC), cooling, security and access, rack layout, and cable management.
Own network documentation by updating and maintaining network drawings and plans.
