About The Position

Metronet is actively seeking a Network Fiber Technician for an immediate opening in Bryan, TX. This role is crucial for the company, which is a rapidly expanding fiber-optic provider dedicated to building robust networks and enriching communities. The Network Fiber Technician will be primarily responsible for the precise terminating, splicing, bonding/grounding, documenting, and testing of all fiber optic cables within Metronet's fiber optic networks and associated equipment. The ultimate objective of this position is to ensure the maximum operating efficiency of the system. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One to two years in the telecommunications industry or related experience
  • Ability to be professional with customers and fellow associates
  • Meet key performance metrics
  • Physical ability to work in various conditions including, but not limited to adverse weather conditions
  • Physical ability to work from a kneeling or standing position for long periods of time
  • Physical ability to climb ladders with proper equipment up to 25 feet
  • Able to lift and carry loads of up to 75lbs including ladder
  • Ability to work with basic hand tools and other specialized equipment with training
  • Operate and maintain company vehicle/equipment safely and professionally including a Department of Transportation (DOT) certified bucket truck and trailer
  • Willingness to work as a team and independently

  • Some trade school training is desired

Responsibilities

  • Perform all setup, testing and maintenance required for Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) installation of Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), DSL and Networking services
  • Install and maintain CPE Local Area Networks (LAN) and WiFi networks
  • Install and maintain network interface devices (NID) and Optical Network Terminals (ONT)
  • Perform skilled troubleshooting from the Main Distribution Frame (MDF) to the demarcation point including CPE
  • Respond to trouble tickets within acceptable company timeframe standards
  • Install Outside Plant (OSP) facilities according to engineered work orders or service orders
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and major repairs to distribution systems
  • Perform cable/fiber testing and splicing
  • Locate fiber optic cabling
  • Record and report all record changes immediately
  • Complete inventory replenish requests as needed
  • Ability to work other duties as assigned
  • Available to travel for training as needed
  • Perform on-call rotation duties after regular business hours as needed
  • Available to work overtime when deemed necessary, may include holidays and weekends
