About The Position

The Network Engineer (NCS-5) is primarily responsible for managing Victaulic's global data, voice, and security infrastructure. The role ensures the reliability, accessibility, integrity, speed, and cost efficiency of network operations for the organization. This includes, but is not limited to, oversight of the following Victaulic network systems: LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), GAN (Global Area Networks), VPN (Virtual Private Network), Internet circuits, and WLAN (Enterprise Wireless LAN).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience administering a Cisco data network
  • Technical experience with Cisco, Routing & Switching, ASA, Network Administration
  • Thorough knowledge of networking essentials
  • Hands-on experience with network devices, policies, rights, and security in a networked environment
  • Comprehensive understanding of the OSI network model
  • Experience implementing and administering common TCP/IP-based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, and SMTP
  • Familiarity with Windows operating system
  • Experience with TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, QoS setup
  • Experience working with WAN technologies such as ATM or MPLS
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA®)

Nice To Haves

  • One year of Cisco ASA Firewall and/or Zone-Based Firewall experience
  • Project and vendor management experience

Responsibilities

  • Administration of all global network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, security devices, access points, and administrative software.
  • Documentation of network problems and resolutions.
  • Monitoring, logging, alerting, and reporting on network performance and security.
  • Design of network solutions to address business challenges and needs.
  • Configuration of network devices, services, and software.
  • Maintenance of network hardware, systems, and software.
  • Ensuring network security and compliance with IT Security Administrator guidelines.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with business partners.
  • Keeping up-to-date with advancements in networking technology.
  • Developing network roadmaps for technology adoption.
  • Proposing networking solutions to address business challenges.
  • Installing new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining network services, equipment, and devices.
  • Integrating voice with data networks where applicable.
  • Performing troubleshooting and analysis of all Victaulic networks.
  • Providing training and technical support for users.
  • Collaborating with other IT staff and departments.
  • Monitoring system performance and implementing performance tuning.
  • Managing outsourced NOC operations, reviewing trending reports, and making recommendations.
  • Adjusting WAN services for optimal performance at minimal cost.
  • Conducting routine preventative measures for network security.
  • Monitoring and maintaining network security, including firewalls.
