About The Position

GDIT is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team to support ETM activities at the Pentagon. In this role, you will be trusted to review and evaluate information technology (IT) infrastructure and systems to ensure adherence to company and customer quality standards. This position requires an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance and involves designing, planning, and building communications networks, configuring routers, switches, and firewalls, and coordinating network improvements. You will monitor the network, provide innovative technical solutions, and perform maintenance and upgrades on various network components. The role also includes coordinating hardware and software acquisition, creating data communication network plans, evaluating new communication technologies, and maintaining current knowledge of relevant technologies. Additionally, you will design and build hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks and provide guidance to less-experienced personnel.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance
  • 5+ years of experience in network administration
  • Bachelors’ Degree in a related field, OR work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Must have hands-on experience/knowledge with Aruba networking systems
  • Proven experience in routing protocols and L3 configurations
  • US Citizenship Required
  • Will require an IAT Level II certification
  • Will require ONE of the following Networking Certifications - Brocade, Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), Juniper (JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP), Aruba
  • Willing to obtain an Aruba Certification within 90 days from start of employment (if candidate does not already hold this certification)

Responsibilities

  • Designs, plans, and builds communications networks.
  • Configures routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols.
  • Coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements.
  • Monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies.
  • Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process.
  • Plans implementation of enhancements.
  • Analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
  • Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks.
  • Maintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability.
  • Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.
  • Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks.
  • Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
  • Designs and builds the hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to less-experienced network personnel.
