About The Position

PEAKE is seeking a motivated Network Engineer to join their team onsite in California. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting networking and communication systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on technical experience and a collaborative approach, contributing to network architecture, implementation, and troubleshooting alongside senior engineers and project teams. This position offers the opportunity to mentor junior staff, drive best practices, and play a key part in every phase of network deployment and support. This is a travel-based position with work 100% on customer site in California. An active DoW Security Clearance is required.

Requirements

  • Proven, hands-on experience with Cisco and/or Aruba networking platforms in enterprise or DoW environments (hands-on experience with Aruba strongly preferred).
  • SME in physical infrastructure: cabling, racking, stacking, power configuration.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across the OSI Model 7 Layer technology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to elaborate on complex issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and commonly used network analysis tools, including multiple monitoring tools.
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager is required prior to support on contract.
  • IAT II 8570/8140 Baseline Certification Security+ or Equivalent.
  • Knowledge of basic Network Design Topology Implementation, Switch and Router Configuration Management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience mentoring or guiding technical teams is a plus.
  • Preferred Computing Environment Certification: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) and/or Aruba Certified Associate (ACA).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform hands-on installation and setup activities, including rack and stack, cabling, labeling, power-up, and testing of networking equipment, ensuring strict adherence to established standard operating procedures.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts involving routers, switches, and overall network connectivity, ensuring complex issues are thoroughly documented and properly escalated.
  • Work closely with senior engineers and project leads to drive the delivery of end-to-end solutions that uphold consistent technical standards.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for customer engagement, delivering high-quality, responsive technical support while maintaining clear and transparent communication on project status, risks, and resolutions.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of configuration records and service documentation, producing clear technical reports and status updates that inform decision-making and drive actionable outcomes.
