About The Position

Evans is hiring a Network Engineer to support a growing contract for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The role supports deployment of an air traffic support system in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment and serves as a technical resource during network installation, integration, testing, and commissioning. The position is mostly remote, with approximately 20% domestic travel to support FAA site installations, network integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and deployment activities. Occasional visits to the Department of Transportation Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and FAA Headquarters in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, are also expected. The Network Engineer provides technical support for network deployment, integration, and commissioning, including configuration validation, connectivity testing, troubleshooting, and fault isolation. The role supports live deployments and cutovers, guides field personnel remotely and on-site, participates in technical bridge calls, and follows change-control and deployment procedures. It also coordinates site readiness, telecommunications circuit delivery and testing, implementation dependencies, and risk escalation. The engineer collaborates with engineering teams, telecommunications providers, local site personnel, and project teams to resolve network and infrastructure issues while supporting operational continuity. The position supports hardware staging and installation, infrastructure integration, commissioning, and documentation by validating equipment readiness, maintaining deployment records and trackers, capturing test results, and providing status updates to project and engineering leadership. Candidates must meet contractual education and experience requirements, hold a CCNA certification, and be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. A specific security clearance may be required depending on the assignment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, including Systems, Aviation, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental, Computer, Industrial, or Human Factors Engineering, consistent with contractual requirements.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise networking concepts, including IPv4 addressing and subnetting, switching and routing fundamentals, VLANs, TCP/UDP protocols, ACLs, and common network services.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network issues using structured diagnostic methodologies.
  • Experience working with network infrastructure technologies, including Cisco IOS/IOS-XE environments, and using Windows and Linux tools for system diagnostics, configuration validation, and operational support.
  • Ability to support hardware staging, installation, integration, and commissioning, including validating physical connectivity, equipment readiness, firmware updates, and implementation procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to provide technical guidance, document troubleshooting activities, coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders, and manage deployment workflows through completion.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
  • U.S. citizenship or a permanent residency card in the U.S. is required for eligibility.
