About The Position

Hyve Solutions is seeking a Cisco Network Engineer to design, deploy, and support high-availability network infrastructure across high-tech manufacturing and warehouse facilities. The role involves hands-on work with Cisco Catalyst switching and wireless platforms, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, and network services supporting real-time production. The engineer owns end-to-end deployments, troubleshoots complex multi-vendor issues across Layers 1–7, and collaborates with Security, Infrastructure, and Operational Technology (OT) teams to maximize uptime and security.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-grade campus and data center networks.
  • Deep proficiency with Cisco Catalyst 9k switching, Cisco Catalyst 9800 wireless controllers, and fundamental Layer 2/Layer 3 routing and switching protocols.
  • Practical experience configuring, troubleshooting, and administering Fortinet FortiGate firewalls.
  • Working experience with Cisco ISE or comparable Network Access Control platforms, such as Aruba ClearPass or Forescout.
  • Ability to isolate root causes across physical cabling, RF/wireless, switching, routing, authentication, and security policy boundaries during operational outages.
  • Exceptional technical documentation and verbal communication skills, including explaining complex technical details to non-technical operational leaders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Cisco Nexus switches, VXLAN/EVPN fabrics, or Cisco HyperFabric solutions.
  • Experience supporting operational technology (OT), industrial IoT, manufacturing, or automated logistics environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Wireshark, SolarWinds, and network automation using Python, Ansible, or PowerShell.
  • CCNP Enterprise, Fortinet NSE 4/5/6, or equivalent practical expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain Cisco Catalyst 9500 distribution and Catalyst 9300 access switches, including VLANs, trunking, STP, redundant fiber uplinks, LACP, and BGP/OSPF routing.
  • Deploy and optimize Cisco Catalyst 9800 wireless controllers and access points, including RF site surveys, SSIDs, policy profiles, policy tags, and coverage for office and warehouse environments.
  • Manage Cisco ISE authentication and authorization policies for wired and wireless infrastructure; troubleshoot RADIUS, TACACS+, 802.1X, MAB, iPSK, device profiling, and endpoint onboarding.
  • Administer Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, including security policies, address objects, policy-based routing, interface mapping, change management, and high-availability failover clusters.
  • Architect and troubleshoot resilient connectivity for operational devices such as industrial handheld scanners, print servers, automated tools, PLCs, and single-board computers; manage IoT VLAN segmentation and firewall policies.
  • Lead Tier 3 escalation for Layer 2/3 incidents, resolving routing loops, spanning-tree issues, asymmetric traffic paths, interface errors, physical Layer 1 faults, and application degradation.
  • Execute network migrations and hardware cutovers during approved maintenance windows; create execution plans, validation scripts, rollback procedures, and stakeholder updates.
  • Maintain network topology diagrams, switch and firewall configuration templates, IPAM databases, and troubleshooting runbooks.
