About The Position

The Network Engineer provides first- and second-level escalation support for network, telecommunications, and security issues. The role analyzes network problems and resolves or escalates them, performs scheduled Cisco IOS upgrades and configuration changes, and manages firewall changes, installations, and upgrades. The position also remediates IDS/IPS and network-monitoring events, verifies routine reports, conducts peer reviews and basic testing of changes, and coordinates with vendors. Travel to company branches in New Jersey and New York City is required. Scheduled weekend and after-hours availability is required for on-call support and projects. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Four-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
Advanced PC experience and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Three to five years working with client-server technologies as a Network Engineer or in a similar capacity.
Three to five years of experience with hardware and infrastructure, including routers (Cisco preferred), switches, servers, and firewalls.
Knowledge of phone systems and voice over IP (VoIP).
Expert knowledge of networking, supporting multiple-site environments, and websites.

Responsibilities

Provide first- and second-level escalation support for network, telecommunications, and security issues.
Perform initial analysis of network issues and resolve or escalate them as needed.
Perform planned and scheduled Cisco IOS upgrades and configuration changes.
Perform firewall changes, installations, and upgrades.
Remediate IDS/IPS and network-monitoring system events.
Verify daily, weekly, and monthly reports and remediate issues as necessary.
Conduct peer reviews and basic testing for changes performed.
Place and escalate tickets with vendors.
Act as the technical contact for routine vendor calls at remote and branch locations.
Provide scheduled weekend and after-hours availability for on-call support and projects.
Travel to company branches in New Jersey and New York City.
Perform other duties as assigned.
