About The Position

Work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team supporting the U.S. Government and provide technical subject matter expertise in network engineering and communications modeling. Translate business requirements into telecommunications requirements, designs, and orders for LAN, MAN, WAN, voice, and video systems, taking into account the complexity of customer INFOSEC and COMSEC security requirements. Perform complex network designs across multiple technologies and technology layers within an enterprise network. Evaluate new technologies and recommend their integration into existing infrastructure. Plan network designs and configurations using knowledge of performance characteristics and network interconnect points to support effective integration and optimal performance. Provide engineering and design support for communication systems, researching existing technologies and applying COTS/GOTS systems and security best practices to voice and data network infrastructure. Integrate system designs with network architecture to meet customer requirements. Provide post-design installation, configuration, and Tier III/IV operations and maintenance support for enterprise and field-deployed LAN, WAN, and system-level components. Create simulated networks to test applications over low-bandwidth links; troubleshoot connectivity; install and configure wide-area links using RF communications such as satellite, cellular, and microwave; and configure, test, and maintain network infrastructure connected to enterprise architecture. The role also requires knowledge of network intrusion detection.
