About The Position

Peraton is currently seeking a Network Engineer - LAN/ToR. The Network Engineer - LAN/ToR will operate and maintain the continuous operation of Cisco Nexus layer 2 networks. This role involves planning, evaluating, coordinating, and performing the installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data communication networks. The engineer will also configure and deploy Cisco ISE for Network access management and Cisco NDFC for network automation and backup configurations. A key responsibility includes performing STIG maintenance to secure IT systems, software, and networks for DoD Unclassified and Classified systems. The role requires understanding and utilizing various network protocols such as SSH, VPC, Vlan Trunking, STP, and other layer 2 technologies. Familiarity with DoD policies, regulations, and governance in relation to IT systems is necessary. The engineer will prepare or ensure appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions and technical diagrams, and assist in developing documentation where it is lacking. Utilization of tools like DX Spectrum for monitoring and assessing network outages is expected. The role also involves assisting with the coordination of third-party maintenance for network equipment or with vendors for third-party support. Willingness and availability to work outside normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, is required, as is on-call support. The position requires the ability to work with general supervision and follow established procedures, adhering to ITIL best practices for ticket and process management.

Requirements

  • 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordination of third-party maintenance for network equipment or with vendors for third-party support.
  • Willingness and availability to work outside normal business hours (evenings and weekends) as needed.
  • Provide on-call support after business hours and during weekends when required.
  • Work with general supervision and follow established procedures.
  • Follow ITIL best practices to manage tickets and processes.
