Peraton is currently seeking a Network Engineer - LAN/ToR to operate and maintain continuous operation of Cisco Nexus layer 2 networks, plan, evaluate, coordinate, and perform installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data communication networks.

Requirements

  • 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain continuous operation of Cisco Nexus layer 2 networks.
  • Plans, evaluates, coordinates, and performs installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data communication networks
  • Configure and deploy Cisco ISE for Network access management and Cisco NDFC for network automation and backup configurations
  • Perform STIG maintenance to secure IT systems, software and networks for DoD Unclassified and Classified systems.
  • Understand and utilize various network protocols to include SSH, VPC, Vlan Trunking, STP and other layer 2 technologies.
  • Be familiar with DoD policies, regulations and governance in relation to IT systems
  • Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions, technical diagrams, and other documentation. Where no documentation exists, assist in developing documentation.
  • Utilize tools to monitor and assess network outages such as DX Spectrum.
  • Assist with coordination of third-party maintenance for network equipment or with vendors for third-party support
  • Willingness and availability to work outside normal business hours (evenings and weekends) as needed.
  • Provide on-call support after business hours and during weekends when required.
  • Must be able to work with general supervision and follow established procedures.
  • Follow ITIL best practices to manage tickets and processes
