About The Position

As a community-minded cooperative, we're looking for a skilled and motivated Network Engineer I to help maintain and advance our carrier-grade network infrastructure. As a Network Engineer I, you'll play a key role in supporting and enhancing NineStar's core service provider network. You'll work with advanced networking technologies, provide Tier III support, and help ensure the reliability and performance of critical infrastructure serving our members and customers.

Requirements

  • Experience with carrier-grade networking environments
  • Experience with Internet services and networking protocols
  • Experience with Cisco networking technologies, including IOS, IOS-XE, and IOS-XR
  • Experience with OSPF, BGP, and MPLS
  • Experience with Linux-based network services such as DHCP, DNS, and TACACS
  • Experience with network security best practices and advanced troubleshooting techniques
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex network solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
  • Calm and effective decision-making during high-pressure situations
  • Passion for learning and evaluating new technologies
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 2–5 years of networking experience, OR Associate degree in Computer Science or a related field with 5–7 years of networking experience

Nice To Haves

  • CCNA certification is preferred. Candidates who do not currently hold a CCNA will be expected to obtain the certification within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, maintain, and upgrade core service provider network devices
  • Support and maintain public-facing network services including DNS, DHCP, and network monitoring tools
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues escalated from Network Operations
  • Maintain accurate network documentation and diagrams
  • Research, test, and implement emerging service provider technologies
  • Provide technical training and support to NineStar employees
  • Collaborate across departments to deliver reliable, high-quality network services
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and support critical network operations as needed
