About The Position

We are partnering with Loyola Marymount University (LMU) to hire a Network Engineer I to support day-to-day network operations across campus. This is a hands-on, entry-to-mid-level networking role ideal for someone with 2–3 years of real-world experience who wants to grow within a structured IT environment. The position focuses on network support, troubleshooting, documentation, and physical infrastructure work, not high-level network design. This role is described as a hands-on, support-focused network engineering role focused on real-world operations, troubleshooting, and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of hands-on networking experience (not just academic)
  • CCNA
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, switching, routing basics)
  • Experience working with Cisco networking equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot wired/wireless connectivity issues
  • Strong communication skills (critical for success in this role)
  • Willingness to perform hands-on / physical infrastructure work (closets, cabling)
  • Experience in ticketing environments and operational IT support
  • Familiarity with VoIP or wireless networking concepts

Responsibilities

  • Support and troubleshoot campus network infrastructure (wired & wireless)
  • Activate network ports, patch cables, and maintain switch connectivity
  • Assist with VoIP phone deployments (installation, configuration, activation)
  • Respond to and resolve network-related tickets
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues for end users and devices
  • Perform network closet audits and cable cleanup (especially dorm environments)
  • Physically install and support networking equipment (switches, phones, access points)
  • Assist with moves/adds/changes across campus network environments
  • Assist with IP address tracking and auditing
  • Document troubleshooting steps, procedures, and resolutions
  • Work closely with network engineers on escalations
  • Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Support ongoing network maintenance and operational improvements
