About The Position

Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer I ready to keep a growing city's technology running strong. In this role, you'll support and maintain enterprise systems across our data center — both physical and virtual — and partner directly with staff and stakeholders to shape where our technology goes next while advising leadership on risk. You'll get hands-on with the full stack of the Town's network: analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls, IPS/IDS, VPN, and wireless equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management, Information Systems, or a closely related field. However, a non-technical degree can be acceptable if complemented with the appropriate certifications and/or experience
  • Three years of experience in the Information Technology industry
  • Two years of Enterprise Network Design and Administration, including Firewall Security
  • Must be able to pass a Police background check
  • Valid Arizona Driver License
  • Must participate in on-call rotation
  • Town of Gilbert employees are required to reside in the state of Arizona by their hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • CISCO CCNA preferred
  • CompTIA Network + preferred

Responsibilities

  • Architect, install, and support connectivity for the Town's LAN/WAN network, solving complex problems that keep services running smoothly for the people who rely on them
  • Lead the implementation of enterprise networking systems, bringing your expertise to project meetings that shape what equipment and solutions we choose
  • Serve as a go-to technical resource for your teammates, helping the whole team deliver better service
  • Bring your judgment to the table — you'll have real ownership in shaping recommendations, not just following a script
  • Architect, manage, and support backup solutions that keep systems and applications highly available and running when it counts
