The Network Engineer I Designs, implements, and maintains highly available and fault-tolerant network routing, switching, and security infrastructure for the enterprise under moderate supervision. Supported technologies include, but are not limited to, client-based SSL VPN, site-to-site IPSec VPN, DNS, DHCP, VoIP, SIP, H.323 video collaboration, firewall technologies, network load balancing, network monitoring tools, 802.11 wireless networks, and 802.3 Ethernet networks. Interfaces with clients, vendors, and internal technical teams on multi-faceted projects involving enterprise voice and data requirements. Responds to and resolves incidents escalated from the Technology Service Center in collaboration with other teams. Manages assigned projects and meets established deadlines with guidance from the Supervisor or Manager. Develops and maintains reference materials such as network diagrams, installation documentation, and technical procedures for supported technologies. Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, and standards to ensure prompt and effective resolution of identified issues. Researches and evaluates new technologies and educates peers on applicable solutions. Supports network-based services including, but not limited to, BOOTP/DHCP, DNS, NTP, TFTP, SNMP, RADIUS, and LDAP. Supports enterprise network security solutions including firewall, IDS/IPS, and VPN technologies.
