About The Position

Provides technical expertise in the oversight of a public and/or private network such as Internet protocol (IP) networks, wide, local and storage area networks (WANs, LANs, SANs) and public switched telephone networks. Plans, designs, installs, maintains, monitors, analyzes, troubleshoots, modifies and supports network communications systems to provide maximum performance and availability. Plans, designs, implements and supports LANs/WANs/SANs in the areas of Internet connectivity, capacity planning, routing, switching, server load balancing, network security and wireless. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and 0-3 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Cisco IOS command-line interface (CLI)

Responsibilities

  • Deploys and implements plans and designs of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies.
  • Defines monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand.
  • Troubleshoots network issues and develops appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes.
  • Keeps informed of the latest technologies to enhance knowledge of networking hardware, software, and best practices.
  • Responsible for the daily administration of a network and server environment.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains system software.
  • Monitors network performance, troubleshoots issues, and deploys solutions.
  • Documents network issues and events using standard formats.
  • Plans and implements upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment installation.
  • Uses scripting and writes basic programs to automate processes.
  • Maintains and follows disaster recovery, security, backup, and restore plans.
  • May evaluate new tools or equipment and perform analysis/feasibility studies to guide decisions on optimizing network performance.
  • Utilize the Cisco IOS command-line interface (CLI) to perform routine network tasks, including viewing device status, verifying interfaces, and gathering diagnostic information.
