About The Position

Texas Instruments' Encore Program is a paid, 12-week internship designed for experienced talent who have taken a career break of 2 years or more. It aims to help professionals and veterans return to the workforce by providing personalized mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities. Participants will contribute from day one, solving real problems and collaborating with TI teams. High-performing individuals will be considered for full-time employment at the end of the program. This specific role is for an IT Network Engineer who will plan, architect, design, budget, and implement LAN, Wireless, and WAN network solutions for TI's Manufacturing and Enterprise locations. The engineer will also participate in day-to-day operations support, gather connectivity requirements, coordinate with stakeholders, maintain network documentation, develop technology roadmaps, support break/fix activities, and review network capacity and health metrics. Collaboration with other IT groups to understand future network capacity requirements is also a key aspect of the role.

Requirements

  • A career break of at least 2 years
  • Intent to return to a full-time role at TI after the program.

  • Meet the minimum role-specific requirements for the job
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of work experience responsible for designing, deploying and operating large-scale networks
  • Experience learning network automation, software, frameworks, and APIs
  • Ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders critical to success, both internally and externally.
  • Engineering and architecture skills necessary to interpret business requirements and needs to deliver new network solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly ramp on new systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, conflict management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results requiring little day-to-day direction.
  • Strong technical background in network operations and business engagements in a highly complex global enterprise.
  • Strong prioritization, time management and negotiation skills that enable on-time project delivery.
  • Ability to travel and provide after-hours and/or weekend support duties as scheduled or deemed necessary during implementation of network engineering projects.
  • Experience in working effectively with globally diverse cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with following suppliers - Cisco LAN & WAN, Arista LAN & WAN, Aruba Wireless.
  • Ability to understand, diagnose and quickly fix complex network infrastructure issues across TI.
  • Deep understanding of routing protocols, OSPF & BGP, and how they are deployed in large corporate environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Current CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification or equivalent.
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience with Arista campus and datacenter architecture, including Spine and Leaf topologies.
  • Proven ability to implement and manage network segmentation and micro-segmentation strategies.
  • Familiarity with Software-Defined Networking (SDN) concepts and practical application.
  • Understanding network automation tools, specifically CVP, CVAAS, and AVD.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), demonstrated through experience with Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
  • Experience in cloud architecture (AWS, GCP, Azure), particularly with cloud connectivity solutions like VPN and Direct Connect.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, architect, design, budget and implement LAN, Wireless and WAN network solutions for TI's Manufacturing and Enterprise locations.
  • Participate in day-to-day operations support as needed.
  • Gather customer and system connectivity requirements used as inputs into building resilient network solutions.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders/suppliers/vendors, both internal and external, to ensure on-time project delivery.
  • Ownership of factory, design, datacenter and sales office network documentation and plans for their area(s) of the infrastructure.
  • Collaborate to develop technology roadmaps, considering business needs and in alignment to overall IT strategies.
  • Support and troubleshoot network faults during break/fix activities and events.
  • Periodically review network capacity, usage and health metrics for respective area(s) of responsibility to plan for upgrades or performance adjustments.
  • Collaborate with other IT groups to understand the future requirements for network capacity at TI's locations.
