The AWS GCNA (Global Connectivity and Network Availability) Organization is seeking a Network Development Engineer to join its EDGE team. This role involves designing, operating, and implementing large-scale networks, playing a key role in supporting all aspects of connectivity to/from Amazon and the outside world, as well as connectivity between Amazon’s data centers and services. The engineer will design and architect innovations to ensure networks are fail-proof, infinitely scalable, and capable of growth. Network Development Engineers collaborate with the broader Infrastructure organization on configuration standards and tools, and work with Systems and Software Engineers to facilitate fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products, and to deploy and sustain networking software tools. The AWS GCNA organization is responsible for managing internet traffic, building and designing a complex backbone network for efficient traffic flow between data centers and customers globally. Engineers in the GCNA-D organization evolve routing policy, implement traffic engineering solutions, grow peering footprint, secure the network from external threats, and architect hardware platforms and network designs for Amazon products worldwide. This infrastructure handles terabits of traffic, requiring complex solutions to maintain capacity ahead of demand. Engineers develop automation, write software, and collaborate with partner teams to continuously improve Internet connectivity in areas like capacity delivery, configuration deployment, impairment detection, and traffic optimization. The role involves making strategic decisions with significant impact across Amazon's products.
