About The Position

AWS is seeking a Network Deployment Technician to join its infrastructure operations team. This role involves working with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment to ensure the stability and sustainability of next-generation networks and contribute to automating and scaling network infrastructure. The position focuses on supporting multiple data center locations, assisting with capacity management, and collaborating with internal customers and external vendors to ensure smooth project execution under the direction of Network Leadership and Technical Project Managers. The role requires leveraging experience in supporting large-scale enterprise networks, network implementation, and troubleshooting within a fast-paced, collaborative setting. Responsibilities include managing and supporting AWS's vast network infrastructure, establishing best practices, and refining operational procedures.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of computer networking experience
  • 1+ years of Linux operating systems experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience in computer networking
  • Experience working with Linux operating systems
  • Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds
  • Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair

Nice To Haves

  • Can work in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines
  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
  • Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment)
  • Industry standard certification (CompTIA, CCENT, or Network+), or experience working in a colocation data center facility
  • Experience with network troubleshooting tools (telnet, test-netconnection, tracert, tracetcp, iperf, ntttcp, dig, and packet capture tools), or experience in managing and troubleshooting network
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP(S), DNS, and TCP/IP

Responsibilities

  • Managing work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles
  • Troubleshooting networking, routing and interconnectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords
  • Specifying Power and Cooling requirements and ensuring Hardware Racking/Stacking completed for new equipment
  • Participating in the migration, basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware
  • Providing first-level networking devices for customer racks, including tracking network rack intake and delivery
  • Working with various onsite teams to request rack space, power, and cooling for network racks
  • Partnering with network engineers to ensure all configurations are ready
  • Working on link and device troubleshooting within a certain Service-Level Agreement
  • Participating in console builds and room builds
  • Working with ID-Scaling peers to build higher-level networking devices
