About The Position

AWS is looking for a Network Deploy Technician to join its infrastructure operations team. This role involves working with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment to ensure the stability and sustainability of next-generation networks and to contribute to the automation and scaling of the network. The position's responsibilities include supporting multiple data center locations, assisting with daily capacity management, and collaborating with internal customers and external vendors to ensure smooth project execution under the direction of Network Leadership and Technical Project Managers. The role requires leveraging experience in supporting large-scale, enterprise-class networks, as well as network implementation and troubleshooting. The Network Deploy Technician will operate in a fast-paced, collaborative setting with regular interaction with peers and customers. In addition to managing and supporting AWS's vast network infrastructure, the role involves establishing and adhering to best practices and refining operational procedures. AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly by supporting all AWS data centers and the associated equipment. The team works on challenging problems within a complex supply chain and seeks talented individuals to contribute. The role is part of a diverse team including software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Collaboration across AWS is key to maintaining high standards for safety and security while providing scalable capacity at the lowest cost. Requirements

  • 1+ years of computer networking experience
  • 1+ years of Linux operating systems experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience in computer networking
  • Experience working with Linux operating systems
  • Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds
  • Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair
  • Must have a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license to travel within the regional work area

Nice To Haves

  • Can work in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines
  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
  • Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment)
  • Industry standard certification (CompTIA, CCENT, or Network+), or experience in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Networking Engineering)
  • Experience with network troubleshooting tools (telnet, test-netconnection, tracert, tracetcp, iperf, ntttcp, dig, and packet capture tools), or experience in managing and troublshooting network
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP(S), DNS, and TCP/IP

Responsibilities

  • Managing work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles
  • Troubleshooting networking, routing and interconnectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords
  • Specifying Power and Cooling requirements and ensuring Hardware Racking/Stacking completed for new equipment
  • Participating in the migration, basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware
  • Providing the first level networking devices to serve customer racks, including tracking network rack intake and delivery
  • Working with various onsite teams to request rack space, power, and cooling for network racks
  • Partnering with network engineers to ensure all configurations are ready
  • Working on link and device troubleshooting within a certain Service-Level Agreement
  • Performing console builds (and room builds)
  • Working with ID-Scaling peers to build higher-level networking devices
  • Traveling within and outside of regional work area
  • Providing after-hours support as needed
  • Participating in primary responder rotation
