Network & Controls Engineer

Galaxy•Dallas, TX

About The Position

Galaxy Digital is hiring a controls and OT network engineer to serve as the owner’s technical voice on operational technology networking within its Pre-Construction team. The position will support the Helios campus in Texas and future campuses, guiding OT network decisions from site acquisition through GMP handoff to construction. The engineer will work with Galaxy’s pre-construction, design and engineering, construction, and operations groups, as well as external design firms, integrators, and suppliers. The role is based in Dallas, Texas, with a hybrid schedule and periodic travel to campuses and vendor sites. The engineer will establish and maintain consistent network standards and repeatable design packages for campus controls networks connecting cooling, electrical, and monitoring systems. The role covers technical scopes and procurement, design reviews, coordination across disciplines, equipment readiness, OT/IT boundaries and security, contractual testing requirements, submittal reviews, operational readiness, budget and schedule input, and transition of design information and lessons learned to construction and commissioning teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, network engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 7 years designing, delivering, and supporting OT or industrial networks where downtime is not acceptable, such as in data centers, utilities, manufacturing, or other critical facilities.
  • Knowledge of segmented network design, including VLAN and VRF strategy, access control, and redundant paths, and the judgment to determine appropriate resilience for each system.
  • Understanding of building management, electrical power monitoring, and SCADA system architecture and network needs, including time synchronization and telemetry from power and cooling equipment.
  • Practical experience with firewalls, VPNs, and secure remote access in OT environments, including managing vendor and tenant access.
  • Experience reading drawings and specifications, reviewing design submissions, and writing technical scopes; owner-side or designer-side experience on a large capital project is preferred.
  • Exposure to commissioning and acceptance testing, and ability to turn field lessons into requirements for future projects.
  • Comfort working with incomplete information and making decisions across sites at different stages of development.
  • Based in or near Dallas, Texas, and able to work on a hybrid schedule with periodic travel to campuses, vendors, and project sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining complex technical subjects to engineers, executives, and vendors.
  • Experience developing RFQs and RFPs, leveling bids, or selecting vendors for technical scopes.
  • Working knowledge of delivery models such as GMP and how design decisions affect cost and schedule.
  • Professional networking or security credentials, such as CCNP, PCNSE, GICSP, or ISA/IEC 62443.
  • Experience supporting multiple sites or campuses and maintaining consistency among them.
  • Sound judgment under pressure and willingness to disagree openly and raise issues early and honestly.

Responsibilities

  • Translate tenant, power, and cooling requirements into a written OT network position that design firms and the general contractor can implement.
  • Develop standards, typical details, and repeatable design packages for new campuses.
  • Write technical scopes and support RFQ and RFP processes for controls integrators, network and controls equipment suppliers, design consultants, and commissioning agents; evaluate bids and recommend awards.
  • Review design milestones for topology, IP and VLAN planning, segmentation, redundancy, and monitoring coverage, and drive review comments to closure before construction drawings are issued.
  • Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, IT, security, and pre-construction project management teams to align controls networking with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with OFCI procurement and logistics teams on network and controls hardware specifications, lead times, and delivery sequence.
  • Agree on OT and corporate network boundaries, vendor and tenant remote access, and firewall rules with IT and security before design freeze.
  • Develop acceptance criteria and testing requirements for factory, site, failover, and integrated systems testing in scopes and commissioning plans.
  • Review submittals, firmware selections, and baseline configurations against Galaxy standards.
  • Document operational requirements, including change control, configuration backups, firmware management, monitoring, and rollback procedures.
  • Provide technical input to budgets, GMP pricing reviews, and schedules for controls and network scope, and identify cost, schedule, and value-engineering impacts.
  • Transfer the design basis, open items, and lessons learned to construction and commissioning teams, and support them through early construction.
