Network & Controls Engineer

About The Position

Galaxy Digital is hiring a Network & Controls Engineer for its Pre-Construction team. The role serves as the owner’s technical voice for operational technology (OT) networking, from site acquisition through guaranteed maximum price (GMP) handoff to construction. Initially focused on the Helios campus in Texas, the engineer will develop standards and reusable design approaches for future campuses, working with Galaxy’s pre-construction, design and engineering, construction, and operations teams, as well as external design firms, integrators, and suppliers. The position is based in Dallas, Texas, on a hybrid schedule, with periodic travel to campuses, vendors, and project sites. The engineer will translate tenant, power, and cooling requirements into buildable OT network designs; shape procurement and vendor selection; review design submissions and equipment; coordinate OT/IT boundaries and secure access; and define testing and commissioning requirements. The role also addresses budgets, GMP pricing, schedules, operational readiness, and handoff to construction and commissioning teams. Galaxy describes itself as a global digital assets and data center infrastructure company. Its data center development includes the Helios campus in Texas and a pipeline of more than 5.7 GW of potential capacity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, network engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 7 years designing, delivering, and supporting OT or industrial networks where downtime is unacceptable, such as in data centers, utilities, manufacturing, or other critical facilities.
  • Knowledge of segmented network design, including VLAN and VRF strategy, access control, and redundant paths, and the ability to determine appropriate resilience for each system.
  • Understanding of building management, electrical power monitoring, and SCADA architectures and their network requirements, including time synchronization and telemetry from power and cooling equipment.
  • Practical experience with firewalls, VPNs, and secure remote access in OT environments, including control of vendor and tenant access.
  • Experience reading drawings and specifications, reviewing design submissions, and writing technical scopes; owner-side or designer-side experience on a large capital project is preferred within this requirement.
  • Exposure to commissioning and acceptance testing, and ability to turn field lessons into requirements for future projects.
  • Ability to work with incomplete information and make decisions across sites at different stages.
  • Based in or near Dallas, Texas, and able to work a hybrid schedule with periodic travel to campuses, vendors, and project sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining complex technical subjects to engineers, executives, and vendors.
  • Experience developing RFQs and RFPs, leveling bids, or selecting vendors for technical scopes.
  • Working knowledge of delivery models such as GMP and how design decisions affect cost and schedule.
  • Professional networking or security credentials such as CCNP, PCNSE, GICSP, or ISA/IEC 62443.
  • Experience supporting multiple sites or campuses and maintaining consistency among them.
  • Sound judgment under pressure and willingness to disagree openly and raise issues early and honestly.

Responsibilities

  • Set the owner’s OT network position by converting tenant, power, and cooling requirements into written requirements that design firms and the general contractor can implement.
  • Develop Galaxy standards, typical details, and repeatable design packages for use across campuses.
  • Write technical scopes and support RFQ and RFP processes for controls integrators, network and controls equipment suppliers, design consultants, and commissioning agents; level bids and recommend awards.
  • Review design milestones for topology, IP and VLAN planning, segmentation, redundancy, and monitoring coverage, and drive comments to closure before construction drawings are issued.
  • Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, IT, security, and pre-construction project teams to align controls networking with power, cooling, and tenant requirements.
  • Coordinate with OFCI procurement and logistics teams on network and controls hardware specifications, lead times, and delivery sequence.
  • Define OT and corporate network boundaries, vendor and tenant remote access, and firewall rules with Galaxy IT and security before design freeze.
  • Develop acceptance criteria and factory, site, failover, and integrated systems testing requirements for scopes and commissioning plans.
  • Review equipment submittals, firmware selections, and baseline configurations against Galaxy standards.
  • Document operations requirements, including change control, configuration backups, firmware management, monitoring, and rollback procedures.
  • Provide technical input to budgets, GMP pricing reviews, and schedules for controls and network scope; identify cost, schedule, and value-engineering impacts early.
  • Hand off the design basis, open items, and lessons learned to construction and commissioning teams, and remain available through early construction.
