The Network and Computer Systems Administrator (Firewall Engineer) supports secure, reliable enterprise network and security operations for a Federal customer. The role helps sustain mission-critical connectivity and access across LAN, WAN, internet, wireless, firewall, network access control, load-balancing, endpoint management, and security-monitoring technologies. The position also contributes to continuous diagnostics and mitigation activities, vulnerability remediation, configuration compliance, and service continuity across the enterprise environment. RIVA Solutions is seeking an experienced Network and Computer Systems Administrator (Firewall Engineer) to install, configure, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network and security infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings hands-on expertise with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Cisco Identity Services Engine, enterprise wireless technologies, F5 Networks load balancing, Splunk or comparable SIEM platforms, and endpoint-management tools. This role works closely with cybersecurity, infrastructure, application, and service-management teams to maintain secure access, resolve incidents, implement approved changes, and improve network performance and resilience.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Four (4) years of relevant network or systems administration experience, including at least two (2) years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise firewalls, network access control, wireless networks, or related network-security technologies.
Experience administering and supporting enterprise network and security infrastructure.
Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and network access control technologies and processes.
Experience supporting enterprise wireless networks, wireless controllers, access points, and applicable wireless-network standards.
Experience with F5 Networks load-balancing and application-delivery technologies.
Experience using Splunk or another SIEM platform for security and operational monitoring.
Experience supporting continuous diagnostics and mitigation, vulnerability remediation, or configuration-compliance activities.
Experience with VMware AirWatch and Microsoft Intune for endpoint or mobile-device management.
Knowledge of LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, access-control lists, and network-security principles.
Experience monitoring, troubleshooting, maintaining, patching, and upgrading network devices and services.
Ability to develop clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Public Trust background investigation or designation.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, administer, and maintain LAN, WAN, internet, wireless, and enterprise network-security infrastructure.
Administer and support Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including security policies, rules, upgrades, configuration changes, and logging.
Support Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for network access control, authentication, authorization, and endpoint visibility.
Configure and troubleshoot enterprise Wi-Fi networks, wireless controllers, access points, and wireless-security standards.
Administer and support F5 Networks load balancers and related application-delivery services.
Monitor network availability, capacity, performance, and security events; identify abnormal behavior and service degradation.
Troubleshoot network outages, firewall issues, wireless connectivity problems, access-control failures, VPN issues, and performance problems.
Review network and security logs using Splunk and other SIEM tools to support incident analysis and operational monitoring.
Support Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) activities, including vulnerability remediation and configuration-compliance efforts.
Support mobile-device and endpoint management using VMware AirWatch and Microsoft Intune.
Perform network-device maintenance, patching, software upgrades, configuration changes, and lifecycle support.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, standard operating procedures, configuration records, and implementation plans.
Coordinate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, application, and service-management teams to resolve incidents and implement approved changes.
