This is a fixed-term position expected to end on August 31, 2029. Flexible work arrangements are available, including infrequent remote work (<10%). Preference will be given to candidates in the greater Austin area with dependable transportation and the ability to respond promptly to on-call notifications. The second interview will be an in-person Practical Application to assess skills and technical proficiency. This position offers a good work-life balance with a typical 40-hour work week and limited travel for training. Requirements

U.S. Citizen, resident, or officially recognized asylee - Applicant selected will be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.
Associate degree and basic network certifications (CCT, CCNA), or equivalent work experience.
Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, Routing and LAN switching)
1+ years of experience with network operations or desktop support.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.
This position requires you to maintain internet service and a mobile phone with voice and data plans to be used when required for work.
Driving Required: This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. The driving record will be evaluated to determine eligibility to drive a university owned vehicle.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Under supervision, plan, design and conduct wireless surveys and designs as well as operate and maintain wireless network components and configurations in support of all UT Austin student, faculty, staff and affiliates.
Under supervision, maintain network asset information, equipment sparing process, and lab organization.
Under supervision provide semi-skilled field support to install, troubleshoot, and maintain the university’s network and voice systems to provide requested improvements for campus units.
Provide basic support for standard network design, troubleshooting, and after-hours event support.
Maintain relationships with ET and unit representatives to address immediate needs, troubleshoot network and telecom systems, and maintain university inventory items.
Provide feedback and identify problems with organizational evaluation of new network technologies, proof of concept projects, and configuration automation.
Raise visibility of issues to network engineers of issues with automation processes, fault detection, standardized operations, and life cycle management.
Perform other related functions as assigned.
