The Network Analyst, student worker provides day-to-day operational support for SAIT’s network environment, ensuring reliability, performance, and security across campus. This position works hands-on with network hardware, cloud networking, unified communications, and application delivery systems while contributing to projects, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements that enhance SAIT’s technology landscape.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled, part-time or full-time, in a SAIT Bachelor’s degree program or diploma for the duration of the contract

Nice To Haves

• Experience in networking and telecommunications – operation, deployment, support, upgrades and deployment is considered an asset.
• CNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification, Cloud certifications - Azure Administrator and/or AWS Certified Advanced Networking, Palo Alto PCCET, PCNSA or above, Aruba associate certifications – Mobility, Clearpass, switching is considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Support daily network operations by resolving trouble tickets, fulfilling work orders, and maintaining stable network performance.
• Configure network environments as part of project teams to support server, software, and application connectivity.
• Optimize network performance by monitoring systems, troubleshooting outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects.
• Install and maintain network equipment including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless systems, DNS, DHCP, and authentication and authorization tools.
• Support cloud networking by configuring and maintaining networking components in Azure and AWS.
• Manage load balancers by configuring and supporting Application Delivery Controllers and load-balancing solutions.
• Support unified communications by working with Cisco Unified Communications, Avaya IP Office, and Microsoft Teams to maintain SAIT’s phone systems.
• Investigate network faults by diagnosing issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain firmware and updates by ensuring network equipment is running the latest releases.
• Collaborate across the institution by working effectively with staff, students, management, and partners.
• Drive innovation by proposing new technologies and platforms to enhance SAIT’s network infrastructure.
• Pursue continuous learning through training, publications, lab work, and professional meetups.
• Model SAIT values by demonstrating SAIT’s core values and competencies in all work.
