About The Position

Administers and coordinates the operation, maintenance, security, and development of the company’s computer networks. This role involves researching, designing, implementing, evaluating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting local area and intra-site networks, both wired and wireless. The administrator will also be responsible for evaluating, specifying, purchasing, installing, configuring, and maintaining network hardware and associated software, as well as managing vendor relationships and contracts for network support and telecommunications services. Additionally, the position contributes to the development and documentation of network policies and procedures, establishes and maintains network security controls, and responds to user inquiries regarding network usage. The role also includes supporting IT team members, assisting the System Administrator, providing general IT support, and managing or assisting with corporate technology projects.

Some skill with managing Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server, Linux, and VMware.
Knowledge of shell scripting, with additional programming experience a plus.
Strong networking knowledge, including configuration, implementation, troubleshooting, and management of wired and wireless networks, with an understanding of network design principles.
Knowledge of mathematics, including alternative bases, calculations, decimals, fractions, percentages, and averages.
Basic project planning and management skills, including breaking down a project into tasks, identifying required resources, and tracking progress.
Ability to manage one's own time and tasks to accomplish work and maximize productivity.
Ability to monitor and assess one’s own performance, to gracefully accept feedback, and to make improvements or take corrective action.
BS in computer discipline and 3+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
High School Diploma or GED required.

Nice To Haves

Network+, Security+, CCNA, CWNP, A+, and Project+ certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

Researches, assists in designing, implements, evaluates, monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots local area and intra-site networks, both wired and wireless.
Evaluates, specifies, purchases of, installs, configures, and maintains network hardware such as firewalls, routers, bridges, switches, access points, modems, and cabling, as well as any associated software.
Evaluates and assists with negotiation of contracts for network hardware support and telecommunications services, and manages those services and vendor relationships.
Assists with the development, documentation, and implementation of policies and procedures related to network hardware and software acquisition, use, support, security, and backup.
Establishes and maintains network security controls such as network users and permissions, access rules, and address lists.
Prevents, monitors for, recognizes, and contains network intrusions and other security threats.
Responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning their usage of the network.
Supports and assists IT team members with network-related troubleshooting and with projects that require network interaction.
Assists and serves as backup for the System Administrator.
Assists with general IT support as needed.
Manages and/or assists with corporate projects and tasks that involve computer or telephone technology, as directed by the Corporate IT Manager.
