About The Position

The Network Administrator-I is responsible for providing first-level support for the organization’s networking infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks. This role primarily involves working on support tickets, assisting senior network administrators and network engineers, configuring and deploying network switches, and maintaining network cabling. Network Administrator-I is expected to develop a foundational understanding of networking concepts while ensuring accurate documentation and proactive network monitoring. Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting skills, and a willingness to learn are essential for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or 1+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts, including IP addressing, subnetting, and VLANs.
  • Understanding of Routing, Switching, Wireless, Firewalls, IP Addressing, DHCP, DNS.
  • Experience with physical deployment of networking hardware, including racking, stacking, and cable management.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Reliable transportation for occasional travel within the assigned area.

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA Network+ or CCNA (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Work on assigned support tickets related to network connectivity, configuration issues, and general troubleshooting.
  • Follow guidance from Network Administrator-II and Network Engineers to assist with network maintenance and upgrades.
  • Configure, deploy, and replace network switches under supervision.
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting for wired and wireless connectivity issues.
  • Assist with network cabling, including running and terminating cables in data centers and office environments.
  • Monitor network performance using standard tools and escalate issues as needed.
  • Learn and familiarize yourself with the organization’s networking environment, including VLANs, IP addressing, and network topology.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Keep inventory records of network equipment and assist in asset tracking.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and security policies related to network infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure smooth network operations.
  • Participate in training and self-study to improve networking skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring proper cable management and labeling.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
